Diving in the Maldives – an underwater paradise on the Zen boat 14–21 November 2026
Why choose diving in the Maldives with the luxury Zen boat?
Simply because it's the best way to get the most out of this piece of paradise. A week at a resort is fine, but after three days you know the bartender's hamster by name and all the corals within a hundred meters.
The Zen boat is your floating base for adventure. Every morning you wake up in a different place, at a different atoll, ready to jump into the water and discover another piece of the underwater theater. No commuting, no compromises. Just you, the ocean, and a bunch of like-minded crazy people. Plus, service that will make you feel like a sea maharaja. What more could you want?
What awaits you beneath the surface of the Indian Ocean?
Imagine a world where gravity doesn't apply, where manta rays fly instead of birds, and where something colorful, toothy, or both peeks out at you from every nook and cranny. That's the underwater world of the Maldives.
Fascinating coral reefs and shipwrecks
The Maldivian reefs are like an underwater metropolis. Hard and soft corals form skyscrapers, gardens, and entire neighborhoods that are alive 24/7. You swim among fans that look like works of modern art and admire coral "brains" that could belong to some underwater genius.
And for lovers of mystery? Shipwrecks. Silent witnesses to history, taken back by the ocean and transformed into artificial reefs teeming with life. Swimming through the corridors of a sunken ship, now home to schools of fish, is an unforgettable experience.
Life below the surface: From colorful fish to majestic manta rays and sharks
Underwater, you'll encounter an entire zoo. Parrotfish in colors that even a rainbow unicorn would envy nibble on corals with a loudness as if someone next to you were munching on potato chips. Elegant butterflyfish weave through the reef with the grace of ballerinas.
And then there are the big players. Majestic manta rays that don't fly underwater, but literally dance. Seeing these giants floating above you is a moment that makes you think about the meaning of the universe. And sharks? Forget Hollywood horror movies. Reef sharks are elegant predators that usually don't even notice you. They are the kings of their world, and we are just humble visitors.
Day 1: Arrival and first dive in 'Stingray City'
You arrive, our team catches you before you can say "where's the nearest bar" and takes you to the boat. After a welcome drink and lunch, we get down to business. A trial dive at Fish Tank, which is not coincidentally nicknamed "Stingray City." It's a warm-up where you get to feel out the equipment and say hello to the local underwater mafia.
Day 2: South Male and Vaavu Atoll – Night dive with cat sharks
After a morning dive at Hulhumale, where we will encounter moray eels and stingrays, we will move on to Vaavu Atoll. And in the evening? The highlight of the day! The famous night dive at Alimatha House Reef. Diving at night is like entering someone else's living room when everyone is asleep. Except that here, everyone has teeth. Hundreds of cat sharks and stingrays around you create chaos that is so fascinating that you forget to breathe.
Day 3: Shark channels and breathtaking cliffs (Miyaru Kandu, Five Rocks)
In the morning, we will dive into Miyaru Kandu, or "Shark Channel." Here, you don't ask if you will see a shark. Here, you ask how many there will be. After breakfast, we will move on to Ari Atoll and explore Five Rocks – five rock formations with overhangs that are perfect for underwater photographers.
Day 4: Searching for the whale shark (Kuda Rah Thila, Maamigili Beyru)
Today is a big day. We are in the southern Ari Atoll, in the Maamigili Beyru area, one of the best places in the world to observe the whale shark. The largest fish on the planet. It is not a predator, but rather a peaceful ocean bus that filters plankton and looks at divers with complete indifference. Seeing it is an experience of a lifetime.
Day 5: Manta rays and gray sharks (Rangali Madivaru, Pannetone)
If you thought nothing could surprise you anymore, you were wrong. In the morning, we will visit Rangali Madivaru, the famous "cleaning station" for manta rays. Imagine it as an underwater car wash and wellness center in one, where manta rays come to have their skin cleaned by small fish. In the evening, we visit Pannetone, where manta rays feast at low tide and "Shark City" appears at high tide with dozens of gray sharks.
Day 6: North Ari and Male Atoll – Manta cleaning station and white tip reef sharks
We sail back to Male, but there is definitely no chance of boredom. Moofushi Manta Point, another famous cleaning station, awaits us. And then Maaya Thila, famous for its white tip reef sharks, which are active both day and night. It's like a never-ending action movie.
Day 7: Last dives, snorkeling, and relaxation
The last day underwater. Your body may be protesting a little, but your soul is rejoicing. We'll go on our last dives, and anyone who feels like it can go snorkeling or relax in the ship's spa. In the evening, we'll have a farewell dinner, where we'll share our experiences and compete to see who saw the biggest creature.
Day 8: Farewell to the Maldives
Breakfast, packing, and transfer to the airport. Our staff will help you clean and pack your equipment so you don't have to worry about a thing. All you have to do is wipe away a tear and promise yourself you'll come back.
Required diving licenses
To enjoy this ride to the fullest, you need to have the right "ticket."
PADI Open Water Diver (OWD)
This is the cornerstone, your ticket to the world of silence. With an OWD license, you can dive to a depth of 18 meters, which is enough for most of the Maldives' beauty.
PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (AOWD)
For those who want more. AOWD opens the door to depths of up to 30 meters and teaches you specialized skills such as night diving and navigation. Given our itinerary, this license is more than recommended—without it, you would miss out on the best parts!
Don't have a certificate? Get one right on the boat – PADI Open Water course (3–4 days during the cruise)
