Theoretical yachting course for level "C" - skipper of offshore yachts
In this course we will teach you the necessary theoretical basics for later successful completion of the practical course at sea and prepare you for the exams for grade C. The course is prepared so that even a complete beginner can master it.
In the intensive three-day courses we gradually cover navigation, nautical science, COLREG, meteorology and health science. In order to make the sailing courses fun, we approach them in a very original way - we print scripts for you, where you supplement the information you learn during the lectures, the explanation is interspersed with practical examples and examples, we use many mnemonic aids. And believe us - at the theoretical skipper courses you will experience not only a lot of fun, but also a lot of new friends.
The course is followed within 2 weeks by an exam supervised by the Ministry of Transport. This rule may not be observed in case of restrictive anti-covid measures.
Venue: Hotel Globus, Gregorova 2115/10, Prague 4 Roztyly, map. The course takes place in the lecture room on the ground floor of the hotel. The hotel is a few minutes walk from the Roztyly metro station. Free parking is available at the hotel.

Price includes: navigation map, navigation set - navigation triangle and ruler, compass, pencil, eraser, teaching note scripts, teaching presentations of all discussed topics in digital form, lunch, refreshments.

What you will learn on the theoretical sailing course
Navigating
The theory of terrestrial navigation (sailing within range of the coast), working with a chart, using navigation triangles and skimmers, working with navigation manuals and their use in practice, calculating navigation examples and plotting them on the chart.
The rules on avoiding collisions at sea - COLREG
Ship's lights at night and in reduced visibility, day signs, sound signals at sea and in port in normal and reduced visibility, ship's priorities, rules for navigation in narrow lanes and in divided navigation systems, navigation law and the Czech Maritime Act.
Meteorology
The basics of meteorological processes and mastering them to a level where you can independently evaluate a synoptic chart.
Health Science
Resuscitation, hypothermia, drowning
Sailing science
All the essentials of sailing - the theory of sail rounding and trimming, anchoring, parking in ports, propeller reaction, preparing and taking over the boat, nomenclature, man overboard manoeuvre MOB, life saving at sea, grounding.

The theoretical sailing course is intended for those interested in passing the theoretical exam for level C. It is open to beginners with no previous sailing experience.

Detailed information about the skipper's licence for Grade C - Master offshore
Yachtmaster Coastal
The licence is issued by the Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic and its validity is determined by international conventions within the EU.
Validity of the licence: a licence with a "C" rating is valid for 10 years. It must then be applied for renewal.
Where not valid: on inland waters in the Czech Republic
Conditions for obtaining the licence
- minimum age of 18 years
- application for the test with the applicant's personal data
- applying for a licence
- payment of an administrative fee of 20,00 EUR in the form of a stamp
- 1x colour photograph measuring 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm

- successful passing of the theoretical examination before the commission of the MD of the Czech Republic
In terms of practical knowledge, it is necessary to either successfully pass a practical exam at sea in front of an instructor appointed by the MD, provide proof of experience in sailing a minimum of 100 nautical miles under the supervision of a yacht skipper with a valid license (logbook, a logbook or a certificate of experience issued by the training centre) or hold an MPZ C licence with an extension for coastal navigation (issued by the State Navigation Administration) and provide evidence of seagoing experience of at least 500 nautical miles (logbook, logbook).
C licence extension
Before the expiry of the C licence (10 years), the following documents are required for renewal:
- at least 500 NM of experience in the last 5 years (copy of logbook or sailing book)
- an application for renewal with the applicant's personal data
- an administrative fee of 20,00 EUR (collection)
- a colour photograph measuring 3,5 x 4,5 cm
